What style we teach?
Mikio Surai
MIKIO SURAI is a style that bridges the gap between traditional and new age martial arts.
While keeping the teachings of the true essence of martial arts, Soke Myloreal Anderson (founder) has found his own expression of martial arts through his many years of training. Martial arts is a great way to learn social skills, develop self-discipline, raise mental awareness of your surroundings, and overcome physical challenges. We focus on the needs of each student and handle him/her with patience. MIKIO SURAI allows you to apply martial arts to real life. This style teaches the importance of family, morally upright standards of living, survival, and tactical training. The amazing thing about the style is that just like life, it's always evolving, which enables you to adapt to any situation. It's a true style that nurtures the heart, mind, body, and soul of a person, by encompassing the 24 written laws and the 12 unwritten laws for life. The style was established in 2010 under the name of MIKIO SURAI Martial Arts International. We teach students that "martial arts is more than fighting, it's a lifestyle." |
Meet our Staff and Instructors
Sensei Lauren Kinnett
Founder and Head Instructor
Lauren Kinnett is the Owner/Founder and Head Instructor of Warrior Martial Arts & Fitness. Lauren started Warrior after spending time in the medical field around emergency medicine. She joined EMS to help people in the worst moments of their lives in hopes that she could help change their lives. After seeing a young person shot and killed, she realized that she had to reach people before they got to that point if she was going to be able to provide life changing help and give people the tools to be successful in a world that isn't always fair. As a lover of martial arts, and an instructor for many years, she realized that martial arts builds the person as a whole and not just to attain a skill. Lauren has practicing martial arts for 20+ years and has been instructing for over 15. Lauren has a 4th degree black belt in Mikio Surai. She has a 3rd degree in TaeKwonDo, and Nine Dragons Karate. She is currently a purple belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu, actively pursuing black. She also holds rank in Hanmudo, Kenpo, and Hapkido. She opened Warrior in order to see lives changed, not only in the skill of martial arts, but in compassion, integrity and character of those she is able to teach. Her goal in teaching is for no student to ever be truly defeated. You win some and you lose some, but defeat is always within your control. |

Testimonials
In June of 2020, we enrolled our youngest here for classes.
Little did we know that it would have an impact on our entire family. Sensei Lauren has invested time and energy in helping our son become a better person, not just teach him martial arts. Each day after class, he comes home to teach us what he has learned, filled with excitement and confidence. For the guidance and education our son has received at this dojo, the cost was irrelevant. If you're looking for a place to better yourself and/or your family, you won't find a more genuine and fulfilling experience anywhere else. |
My son is absolutely loving it!
Sensei Lauren is such a positive motivator for these kids. Warrior teaches more than just Martial Arts skills. It builds character and confidence. I am so pleased with how they communicate to the parents through emails so that we feel connected to what is being taught in class. Joining Warrior has truly been a blessing to our family. |
"Our daughter, Isla, has been with Ms. Lauren's Warrior program for 7+ years, starting when she was 3.5 years old.
What started as just an activity to supplement her after school time, quickly became much more to us. Within her first year we noticed how she enjoyed the respect she was able to earn by showing responsibility for things such as, being on time, remembering her uniform, and keeping it clean. We then noticed that she has developed and understands the meaning of perseverance and applies this to situations she encounters. We welcome the concept of having the higher ranked students teaching the younger, this speaks volumes about Ms. Lauren's ability to understand and keep young minds interested and involved. We appreciate all that being a Warrior has provided for our daughter, as these are the lessons she can apply to every day situations throughout her life in both work and play." |
